The first two images on this page are by noted Maryland artist and personal good friend Robert W. Kramer. "Bob" is well known for his paintings and sketches of historic theatres, many of them no longer extant. Often, as in the case of the images below, he works from old photographs. Bob's website can be reached by clicking HERE. These images are Copyright 2008 by Robert W. Kramer, all rights reserved, used with permission.
The third image is from the Charles North Vision Plan document showing an artist's rendering of the south-west corner of North Avenue and North Charles Street, suggesting how the fine old building at #1 W. North Avenue might look with a "modern" glass enclosed replacement, which is no more functional (and probably less), but with a substantially higher price tag.

Concerned people don't let Developers make this kind of mistake. Unless the existing building is hand-demolished, brick-by-brick, there is substantial risk of irrepairably damaging, or dramatically increasing the restoration cost of the already fragile ornate plasterwork in the Parkway, particularly along the common wall.
